Five-A-Day is a daily five-question quiz. It is built to need as little about you as possible, and this policy is short because there is little to describe.
There is no account
You do not sign in. You give no name, no email address and no password. When you first open the app it creates an anonymous identifier — a random string — so that your answers can be saved and your quiz can carry on where you left it. That identifier is not linked to you, your name, your email address or your phone number, because we never collect any of them.
What is stored
- Your answers and scores, with that anonymous identifier and the date of each quiz.
- How the app is used — that it was opened, that a quiz was started or finished, that the share button was tapped. This is measured through PostHog, against the same anonymous identifier.
- Crash and error reports, through Sentry, if the app fails. These include the app version and the device's operating system version, so a fault can be reproduced and fixed.
- Anything you choose to send us through the feedback link, which opens a form in your browser. That form is run by Tally, and it is entirely optional. If you give your name there so we can reply, we will hold it for that purpose.
What is not collected
No name, no email address, no password, no phone number, no contacts, no location, no advertising identifier. Nothing is used to build an advertising profile, and nothing is sold or shared for advertising. There are no ads in the app.
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
Who else is involved
Three service providers process data on our behalf: Supabase (the database holding quizzes and answers), PostHog (usage analytics) and Sentry (crash reporting). Each is used only to run Five-A-Day. Data is held on servers in the European Union.
How long it is kept
Answers and scores are kept while the app exists, so that a future version can show you your own history. Crash reports and usage events are kept for a limited period and then deleted automatically.
Deleting your data
Because there is no account, we cannot identify you from your answers — which is the point, but it also means we cannot look them up for you on request. You can, however:
- Remove the link to your answers by uninstalling the app. The anonymous identifier goes with it, and with it the only connection between you and what is stored.
- Ask us to delete the records held for your identifier. Write to hello@five-a-day.app and we will tell you what we would need to find them.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or the UK, the GDPR gives you rights over personal data about you — access, correction, erasure, and complaint to a supervisory authority. In Ireland that is the Data Protection Commission, at dataprotection.ie.
Children
Five-A-Day is not aimed at children and collects nothing from anyone knowingly under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
